Sbandieratori "Casa Normanna".

The company of Sbandieratori "Casa Normanna" (Norman House) was established in 1971 when the festivities in honor of St. Anastasia. their consists of flag-waving, drums, trumpets and banners, wearing period costumes (1400) with yellow-green colours, and is inspired by the Normans knightsi, that waving their flags, announcing to the people of Sicily, the expulsion of the Saracens.

The Flag-Wavers in Sicily revived the ancient art of flag and color to brighten up and the most important ceremonies and cultural events, including across national borders, today, is part of The Flag-Wavers Federation. (Italian Federation Sbandieratori - Ancient Games and Sports of the Flag) and athletic competitions, continues to excel thanks to the spectacular choreography and the technique of flag-wavers.

The Casa Normanna association

"Casa Normanna" Association and the group of Sbandieratori are inserted in a social context far broader and more ancient that is the Rione Vecchia Matrice of Motta Santa Anastasia.

The Association, through the groups flag-wavers, majorettes, and pageant history, represents and leads around the world a culture and centuries-old tradition, handed down from memory of the Rione Vecchia Matrice.

The colors that represent the Association is green and yellow.
All members of the Rione are commonly called and known by the nickname "Campagnolo".

Sin dall’inizio del XVI secolo la popolazione di Motta ha sentito l’esigenza di distinguersi in consorterie contadine e maestranze, con il progressivo riflettersi di queste categorie in tutte le attività sociali, politiche e religiose del borgo.
Nascevano così i Campagnoli e i Maestri, due fazioni che con il passare dei secoli gestivano, spesso scontrandosi, la vita amministrativa del borgo, divenuto Comune solo nel 1820.
L’ interesse delle due fazioni non si limitava solamente alla vita politica e sociale, infatti decisamente importante risultava l’elemento religioso e, soprattutto, la partecipazione ai festeggiamenti in onore della Vergine Martire Sant’Anastasia, unico motivo per cui queste suddivisioni sono continuate e rimaste nel tempo fino ai nostri giorni.
